Community Creative Curriculum Events Visits & Visitors

Two sessions were held at Sidbury School today to make decorations for the school and for the Christmas Fair next week.  Parents were invited to come along for the sessions to work alongside their children in their house groups.  As you can see there were some amazing creations and the school will look very colourful in the lead up to Christmas.

Sidbury Fair Week

Community Creative Curriculum Visits & Visitors

What a busy start to the new term!  During the 3rd week in September Sidbury Fair takes place in and around the village.  There are many activities and events during the week which the children take part in.  On Tuesday the annual Hot Pennies ceremony took place.  This involves ‘warm’ pennies being thrown in to the street for the children to collect!  Wednesday saw the traditional Fair Day with stalls and livestock lining the roads, followed by the Jordan Cross Memorial Duck Race starting in the school grounds and finishing at the Millennium Green.  All the children did  a painting for the painting competition on the theme ‘Off the Beaten Track’ and some children entered the photographic competition.  The scarecrow competition provided some amusing figures throughout the village and the school won 2nd prize for their scarecrow of a local cricketer.

Exmoor Challenge

A very well done to the children who completed the Exmoor Challenge on Saturday.  Despite the constant light rain, the children ploughed around the course and made all staff and their families very proud!  The children’s teamwork was phenomenal during the 16 mile hike.  Thank you to the children for all their efforts and for representing the school brilliantly and to all their families for the huge support that was shown at this event.  Thank you also to Mrs Andrews for organising this event for our school; year 5s you need to start practicing.
