Meet the team

Miss Charlotte Hill

I have the privilege of introducing you to a very hardworking, nurturing and enthusiastic Team Sidbury! All of the staff here work together to ensure every child thrives. Each and every adult will go the extra mile to boost children’s self-esteem, self-motivation and self-worth; all of these values I believe underpin a child’s ability to succeed, both in school and in the future.
Each member of staff has a passion or talent in a variety of curriculum areas. My own strengths lie in physical education; many children in our school enjoy sporting opportunities, and we have visited Plymouth Raiders annually since 2012.
Working alongside children and their families is paramount to the success of Sidbury CE School and I can not emphasise enough how much we value the support of parents and friends of the school. You can find me on the slope every morning and afternoon if you have a question, concern or success to share.

Mrs Clare Bedford

Special Educational Needs and Disability Lead

I feel extremely lucky to have worked at Sidbury C of E Primary School since 2009. Working as part of a hardworking, caring and supportive team is essential in creating a stimulating, nurturing environment for the children that we teach and care for. As an Early Years specialist I am passionate about providing young children with a play based learning experience enabling them to grow and develop holistically. Through my role as the Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator, I am in a privileged position as I work with a range of children across the school to ensure that all of our children have the opportunity to thrive and achieve their potential working on activities that are differentiated and personalised through a varied and enriched curriculum.

Personally I love to keep fit and run regularly having entered a number of half marathons and other sponsored running events raising money for charities close to my heart. I have regularly run an after school running club working alongside the children to build up their stamina, confidence and fitness level and entering a number of running events where they can compete against others and themselves. It is so rewarding to watch them run over the finish line bursting with pride on their achievements.

Miss Emma Mills

I have a real passion for sports and as a result of this I have gained qualifications in sports including Netball, Football and Handball. I have been involved in playing, coaching and umpiring sports since the age of seven. I like working hard to create exciting opportunities for the children in Elm to succeed in a safe, engaging and nurturing environment.

I am overjoyed to be part of Team Sidbury and I am looking forward to the exciting times ahead.

Mrs Clair Murrell (Senior Teacher and Key Stage 1 Leader)

Maple Class Teacher (Year 2)

I started my teaching career at Sidbury in Class 1, this gives me a sound knowledge of the Early Years curriculum and the expectations of Key Stage , I love working at Sidbury and I have been here since 2004. We have 6 superb classes and our learning environment is extremely rich inside and out. Learning outdoors is great for children, I seek opportunities to make learning experiences memorable for all and plan in outside learning experiences within Topics. In addition to being passionate about teaching and learning in my own class, I also seek opportunities to enrich the English curriculum across the school as part of my leadership role. We have great links with local theatres, drama specialists and librarians. We have an annual World Book Week as our children love reading, so we always seek to embrace their love of books.

Miss Rachael Hill

I am currently working with Year 5 and 6 children at Sidbury CE Primary school . I feel incredibly privileged to be working with such a supportive and enthusiastic team, who's focus is to continually provide a rich and engaging curriculum which is accessible to all children in the school. I believe that the promotion of Learning Powers and Christian Values are a strength of the school, creating responsible, enthusiastic and empathetic learners. I attended Plymouth University and gained a Bachelor of Education in Primary teaching, specialising in Music. My hobbies include playing musical instruments such as the piano, guitar, ukulele and flute and I am passionate about embracing a music-filled curriculum to access all areas of learning. Miss Nicola Pope

Nicola is the newest member of teaching staff at Sidbury School.

Mrs Samantha Andrews (Key Stage 2 Leader)

Oak Class Teacher (Year 6)

Mrs Andrews is currently on maternity leave.

Some of the things I love about being a teacher at Sidbury… I am proud of our school and love working as part of a great team of people who are committed to ensuring that we provide a friendly, caring and safe environment for everyone. I strongly believe in instilling confidence in children to become lifelong learners, providing an education that is enriched and underpinned by children’s interests so that the curriculum is child-centered and engaging for all pupils. My own curriculum strengths lie in art, where I take pleasure in planning creative opportunities for children to develop their skills and techniques to achieve their full potential. In addition to this, I am an individual who has a slightly competitive nature, particularly in sport. I am not someone who gives up easily! I have fun making time to go horse riding and running…. often chasing after my dog, Teddy! I have also played for the Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club. I thoroughly enjoy watching a game of rugby too. As part of my role as the school physical education coordinator I take great delight in organising sporting fixtures for children to take part in throughout the year and planning special events such as the Plymouth Raiders basketball trip. Ask me about an extreme sport that I enjoy….
Thank you to parents for your continued encouragement, this means so much.

Mr Glen Burnett (HLTA)

PPA Cover

I have worked in the Primary Academies Trust since 2012, previously working at Woodwater Academy. More recently, I have started working as an HLTA at Sidbury. I thoroughly believe every child should have access to a thriving and active curriculum which will engage them in their learning. My enthusiastic approach and passion for physical education has made me focus on inspiring young people to engage in a more healthy active lifestyle.

I firmly believe that all children’s talents and successes should be nurtured. I will always take time to hear how children are getting on in all aspects of their learning inside and outside of school.

It is important for me to consider the whole child and I will often volunteer myself for residentials and events in the wider curriculum. This gives me the opportunity to see children in a new light overcoming challenges and learning important life skills. Every child matters and I will always go the extra mile to benefit the children at Sidbury!

Mrs Jenny Dinham-Price (HLTA)

Learning Mentor

I feel very fortunate to have been part of the Sidbury team for a number of years, both as a parent and now as a teaching assistant and Thrive practitioner. I have a genuine interest in the social and emotional wellbeing of children and therefore I work closely with the school's SENCO to ensure all of our children have the chance to thrive whilst at school. I enjoy running the popular gardening club and also help look after the children in the After School Club too.

Mrs Jane Powell

Teaching Assistant

I feel very privileged to have been part of the Sidbury Team for a number of years during which time I have seen both my sons educated at Sidbury Primary School. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 1 during my time here and I currently work in Elm Class.. The caring and nurturing environment provided by all makes the school an exceptional place to work and learn.

Mrs Rebecca Williams

Teaching Assistant

Having heard what a fantastic school Sidbury is, now I am part of it, I can see why. I quickly felt like an integral part of 'Team Sidbury' and now couldn't imagine working anywhere else. I am currently working in Willow. Working as a teaching assistant at Sidbury School is the most challenging and rewarding position I have held. My degree is in tourism management with modern languages so I jump at the chance to speak in french or german to the children. Enjoying all aspects of outdoor life myself, I believe that children are happiest when they are outside. In my spare time, I love walking my dog Teddy, and many of you will have spotted us walking along Sidmouth sea front or on the Byes.

Miss Chelsea Cross

Teaching Assistant

Miss Cross is currently on maternity leave.

I am from Sidbury and went to Sidbury CE Primary School as a child myself. I have been brought back to my roots and I have worked across the school in different year groups but many supporting Foundation and Key Stage 1 children. I have always wanted to work with children; I am therefore very fortunate as my current job has given me the chance to work with an amazing group of staff and children. I am a lunchtime supervisor and help to run the after school club throughout the week. I have a keen interest in the arts.
In addition to being part of the school community I am part of many committees within the village in order to support the following events and establishments: Village Hall; Fireworks and the Village and Sidbury Fair.

Mr Alex Fisher

Teaching Assistant

I currently work in Year 3 with Mr Barker. I have a HND and a BSC (Hons) degree in Information Systems with Information Technology.
I have experience working with children in many areas: nursery, foundation and KS1, all at mixed abilities and some with special educational needs. I believe that every child deserves a good education and school should be an enjoyable place to be. Since starting at Sidbury I could very quickly see that this is a brilliant school to be at, not just for the children but for the staff as well.
I have a strong passion for sports and enjoy football (which I play every Monday night in Exeter), rugby, basketball, American Football and the gym.
Having a teacher as a parent when I was growing up I could see from a young age how important education is to a child’s development and well being.

Mrs Dawn Sells

Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant

I have been at Sidbury for over 2 years as a Teaching Assistant and afterschool club leader. I have worked within ks1 and 2. I am currently working in Beech and Hazel class as a TA; I enjoy supporting the children’s learning and strive to see them succeed. I have a good working relationship with the children across the school and all staff. We all share the same ethos and work hard to maintain our high standards.

Miss Annabelle Brown

I have been working at Sidbury CE Primary School for a number of years providing support across the school. I have a keen interest in art and often run a weekly after school Art Club or Arts and craft Golden Time activity.

Ms Kate Bedford

Teaching Assistant

'I started a Teaching Assistant role with the Sidbury Team in May 2016. This year I am working in Elm Class with a great group of children. Their imagination and creativity never ceases to amaze me! I strive to support and encourage the children and find it very rewarding seeing their faces when they achieve. My interests include art and crafts, and country walks with my family and our dog.'

Mrs Louise Denham

After School Club Leader

Mrs Denham joined us at the end of the Summer Term and is looking forward to running activities at our After School Club.

Mrs Vivienne Bornet

Senior Administrator

I have worked at Sidbury since 1993 and am now the longest serving member of staff! I started as a Teaching Assistant and worked across both key stages. A number of years ago the post of administrator was advertised and I decided this was an area of school life that would bring new challenges and opportunities. My job is certainly varied and I enjoy meeting people, working with parents and children as well as all the other aspects that come with the job. I love music and regularly sing with a choir in Topsham as well as playing the clarinet in small ensembles.

Mrs Kirsty Stevens

I have been working at Sidbury now for two years and work alongside Viv in the office, and as a Teaching Assistant across the school.

Chef Hotchkiss

Sidbury Chef

I joined the trust back in the Summer of 2017 working alongside Ventrus' Executive Chef Rob Stevens. I now run the kitchen on a daily basis and am enjoying getting to know the children and staff at Sidbury School. Please come and see me if you have any concerns about your child's eating and I will try and work with you to make your child's eating experience at Sidbury a pleasant one.

I am looking forward to providing food at various school events throughout the school year and welcome any ideas for extra fundraising ideas that you may have.

Mr Ian Chalmers

Site Manager

Mr Chalmers joined us at the beginning of the Spring Term 2018. Ian has very quickly become part of our Team. Our grounds are looking lovely thanks to Ian's hard work.

Mr Paul Benattar

I work alongside Ian carrying out maintenance and improvement works across the school. I have an eye for detail and always complete jobs to the highest standard. I have two children who attended Sidbury and I also live nearby. I have supported the school as a Dad too, helping put up the stage for productions, setting up for the Summer fete , and through attending PTFA events such as the school Beetle Drive.
